Venue

Summertown, Oxford. St. Michael and All Angels Church Hall situated on the corner of Banbury and Portland Roads. Its postcode is OX2 7EZ. On Sundays there is on street parking around the venue (please leave the venue spaces free for the band/equipment).

 

Timetable

11:15                      Registration/Check in

 

11:30-14:30     Parallel workshops (with water/snack breaks)

 

Track I. Fundamentals (lower hall): if you’ve never tried collegiate shag before or fancy a refresher, this is the workshop for you. Al and Eleanor will take you through the basic footwork, closed, open and side by side positions and a few fun moves.

 

Track II. Experienced (upper hall): if you’ve been shaggin’ a while and are looking for some new challenges, the fabulous Peter and Aila will have some treats instore for you.

 

14:30-17:30      Social with DJs and live music from The William Arthur Trio

 

Food & Drink

There will be tea, coffee, squash and snacks provided (including dairy and gluten-free options). The venue is also very close to Summertown which has multiple shops and cafes.

 

What to bring

November temperature should be cooler than of late, but we’d recommend bringing a fan, water bottle and an extra T-shirt or two.

 

If you have friends who are not (yet!) shag enthusiasts, all swing dancers are very welcome at the social and whilst the music will be geared towards the faster end, there should be plenty for lindy hoppers, balboa and other dancers to enjoy so please bring them along
