Description

Save the Fast Dance is back for a fourth year of Balboa and Shag in January 2027!

New year, but our recipe stays the same: 2 sets of main teachers, 2 sets of taster class teachers, 4 socials, live bands, and ALL the fast music we can offer to dance away those January blues...

We'll have parties on Thursday (pre-party), Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus two packed days of classes. You can choose to take classes in just Balboa, just Collegiate Shag, or some of each to really expand your fast dancing repertoire!

Teachers

Jennifer Lee and Jeremy Otth

Natalia Rueda and Mickey Fortanasce

Marion Forano and Sergej Götz

Izzy Ling and Louis Carruthers

Bands

Castle Rock Jazz Band

The Five Quids

We believe that everyone should have access to opportunities to dance and learn, no matter your financial situation. To that end, we are offering some discounted passes to this event for those who otherwise would be unable to afford to attend. The code ACCESSTOCLASS will reduce the full pass to £120, and the code ACCESSTOPARTY will reduce the social pass to £50. Please email welfare@cambridgeswingdance.com with any questions on these passes.

Levels

Excited

You’ve been dancing this style for a year or two, taking regular classes and social dancing at least once a week. You may have joined a few weekend workshops and perhaps even a festival or two. When a fast song comes on, you get excited - though the very top tempos still feel just out of reach. You’re eager to build fluency, connection, musicality, and efficiency in your dancing.

Obsessed

You’ve been dancing this style for at least three years, with regular social dancing and practice at home or in small groups. You’ve attended many festivals focused on fast dancing, including international events, and you’re happy to challenge yourself in classes and want to go home with a list of things to practice. When a fast song starts, you’re among the first to jump in. No tempo feels too daunting, and you’re confident dancing with any partner. You’re adding musical breaks, playing with rhythms, and developing your own styling and moves.
